Kentucky Alternative Livestock Association (KALA) is Kentucky's state deer and elk farming organization. We are a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, founded in 1999 to promote and protect the deer farming industry. Our mission is to establish, encourage, and facilitate ideas on deer farm management; have a forum to discuss solutions to challenges within deer farming; represent the industry to the government and other related organizations; and to establish and promote ethical standards of conduct for animal husbandry and business practices in deer farming.

We are dedicated to the promotion of cervid farming by educating our members and the general public about the benefits and opportunities available through industry participation. K.A.L.A.’s 11-member leadership team ensures quality standards by keeping an up-to-date deer farmers’ registry and guarding our farmers regarding any legal deer farming regulations, and providing educational programs (including quarterly meetings, quarterly magazines, an annual convention, and educational seminars).
